Colts LB Zaire Franklin said that the death of owner Jim Irsay has given the team a purpose this offseason, as they want to play in a way that would have made Irsay proud.

“I would really just say we’re a team with a purpose,” Franklin said on SiriusXM NFL Radio. “With the passing of Jim Irsay, a great man who’s done not only so much for the city, but the state of Indiana, this season, and just honoring his legacy and continuing to bring his dream to fruition, is definitely extreme motivation. It’s one of those things that gets everybody on the same page where everybody is fighting and pulling in the same direction, for the same purpose.”

Jaguars

Trevor Lawrence has been seen wearing a sleeve on his throwing arm during the Jaguars’ minicamp. Lawrence pointed out he was experiencing soreness after going several months without throwing.

“You gotta think about, I haven’t thrown since before OTAs since December,” Lawrence said, via the team’s YouTube. “It was about four months of not throwing. I can’t tell you the last time I didn’t throw for four months–I guess three years ago when I got surgery. So just going from that to, I started throwing a couple weeks before we started the offseason program, but then we jumped into practice, heavy volume, and I think just over time, obviously you gotta adjust and get into shape for that. So just a little bit of soreness. The compression helps, just relieves some of that. So that’s all it is. Nothing I’m concerned about.”

Texans

Some concern arose during voluntary workouts when Texans QB C.J. Stroud wasn’t throwing due to a shoulder issue. Houston GM Nick Caserio continues to downplay the injury and said they were exercising extreme caution for their franchise centerpiece.

“Honestly, it was much ado about nothing,” Caserio said, via SportsRadio 610’s Payne & Pendergast. “In the spring, we’re just trying to make good, smart decisions.just manage the player as we see fit. In the end, the focus is on getting him ready for training camp. He had a good attitude when he was in the building. He obviously trained and worked on his body and his overall strength development which that’s what the offseason program is usually for.”
