Colts’ co-owner and CEO Carlie Irsay-Gordon has been spotted over the years down on the team’s sidelines during games with a coaching headset, taking notes and studying how their team operates. Irsay-Gordon said she’s regularly fielded questions from her peers about being on the sidelines.
“I was telling them some of these stories, and they were like, maybe I should do that for a game or two,” Irsay-Gordon said, via JJ Stankevitz of the team’s site.
Irsay-Gordon continued that she’s there to study and learn instead of wedging herself into coaching decisions.
“That’s why I started doing it, because it’s like a black box,” Irsay-Gordon said. “Nobody could tell me what they did.”
Irsay-Gordon reflected on when she started attending games on the sidelines during former HC Chuck Pagano‘s time as head coach from 2012-2017.
“I think once he started realizing I just genuinely want to learn and I want to understand, he actually started realizing that I could help them.”
Jaguars CB/WR Travis Hunter gave an update on what it has been like for him to grasp things on both sides of the ball.
