NFL Trade Rumors
Browns EDGE rusher Jared Verse said the hardest thing about being traded was leaving his teammates.
“When he gave me that news, my mindset wasn’t, ‘Oh my god, I’ve got to leave. I’ve got to pack up my house. I’ve got to go across the country.’ My mindset was, ‘I’ve got to leave my teammates, I’ve got to leave my brothers behind, because I don’t want to leave my brothers,’” he said, via Rams Wire. “So if I’m going to, I want to address them. I don’t want them to find out from ESPN or from this news site or that news site. I want them to hear it from me. Went to the team room, Coach, he released it, he told everybody that, ‘We’re trading Jared,’ and I got to tell everybody. I said, ‘It sucks I’m not going to be here. I love you guys to death. You guys are going to go out there, you guys are going to dominate, you guys are going to do everything you can do and you guys are going to play the best you can. You guys got 17 games for sure. Who knows what’s going to happen after that but just go dominate.’”
Deshaun Watson goes into the offseason program competing for the Browns’ starting quarterback job. Cleveland HC Todd Monken mentions that Watson’s mobility will be a “huge weapon for him” this year.
“I think the things you don’t see out here — you do a little bit — I think (Watson) plays with his feet,” Monken said, via Mary Kay Cabot. “That’s going to be a huge weapon for him. It has been in his career, and as long as he’s healthy, it will continue to be a weapon for him.”
Browns QBs coach Mike Bajakian said Watson “looks great physically” after recovering from a torn Achilles and has looked like a “high level athlete” throughout their offseason program thus far.
“Deshaun looks great physically,” Bajakian said. “I wasn’t around him prior to those injuries or at any point before. I’d seen him on video. I even went back, when I got here, evaluated some of his Houston video. What I’m seeing is a high, high level athlete on the field over the course of the last 12 practices. And so athletically, he looks great.”
Bajakian points out that Watson has played in many systems throughout his career and wants the quarterback to translate his experience into their operation.
“For (Watson), he’s been exposed to so much over his career,” Bajakian said. *“He’s done things a lot of different ways. He’s been in a lot of different offenses. So the biggest thing for him was being able to translate what we’re doing to something he’s done in the past. And he’s an extremely fast processor, very smart guy. Again, been working his butt off. The amount of preparation he put in before we even were able to get our hands on him in Phase...
