The New England Patriots weren’t the only team to reveal their NFL “Rivalries” uniforms on Thursday.
New England released a “Nor’easter” alternate uniform that it will wear during a Week 11 division contest against the New York Jets. The Patriots will see another AFC East foe model their own winter-themed gear earlier in the season.
The Buffalo Bills unveiled their “Cold Front” uniforms as part of the “Rivalries” collection. They’ll don the all-white winter attire this fall when hosting the Patriots on Oct. 5.
Quarterback Josh Allen, wide receiver Khalil Shakir and defensive lineman Greg Rousseau showcased the new look in a graphic posted on social media:
The Bills really embraced the cold motif by sending Allen and other players into a freezer to get their first glimpse of the uniforms, which garnered rave reviews.
“This is dope,” Allen declared.
Buffalo’s white uniforms and helmets feature metallic patterns designed to resemble cracked ice, and the numbers and team logo are accented in an icy blue hue.
“Every trace of red has been stripped away to unleash the heart of a Buffalo winter,” the Bills wrote on their website. “Red means warmth — and there’s no warmth here. This uniform is forged from snow, ice, and the unforgiving cold. It doesn’t just represent winter… it is winter.”
The Bills rarely look bothered by Buffalo’s cold climate, going 8-0 at home last season before winning back-to-back postseason contests at Highmark Stadium. It’s a questionable choice to deploy the “Cold Front” gear in early autumn, but it could still be a chilly evening at Orchard Park when Buffalo plays New England in Week 5’s pivotal “Sunday Night Football” clash.
