Miami Dolphins All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey is reportedly on the trade block, which got many Steelers fans speculating that Pittsburgh could have an interest. The Steelers had been connected to Jaire Alexander as a potential trade candidate earlier this offseason, but nothing came to fruition.
Adam Schefter of ESPN will be surprised if Ramsey lands with the Black and Gold. He thinks the seven-time Pro Bowler wants to play on the West Coast.
“The Dolphins continue to have conversations about trading Jalen Ramsey, and I think that a trade there will get done,” Schefter said on The Pat McAfee Show. “The question is, when does it get done? Does it get done next week, the week after, prior to the start of training camp? I don’t know exactly when it’s gonna be, but Jalen Ramsey will get traded. It’ll be, I would expect, before the start of training camp.”
“We’ll see how it shakes out, where he goes. I think he would like to go to the West Coast, to the Los Angeles Chargers, somewhere like that. And we’ll see how that happens.”

The Steelers are already set at outside corberback with Darius Slay and Joey Porter Jr. in the fold. They could use Ramsey as an option in the slot, where he would certainly be an upgrade over Beanie Bishop. But he is due $21.1 million over the rest of the 2025 season — a hefty sum for any cornerback, let alone one playing in the slot — and it’s unlikely that a move to a more physically demanding position at 30 years old would be the thing that would please the disgruntled Dolphins corner.
It’s not clear if the Steelers still had any interest in Alexander before he signed with the Baltimore Ravens on Wednesday. None of he, Slay or Joey Porter Jr. have played very much slot cornerback in their career, so it would have been awkward fit.
In addition to Slay and Porter, the Steelers also have former draft pick Cory Trice and free agent Brandin Echols at outside cornerback, and an addition would create a bit of a logjam.
