Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers confirmed on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday that he will have a throwing session with some teammates out in Malibu, Calif. next week.
“We have some guys coming out next week, so it’ll be fun to spend a little time with them. . . . Some of these guys might wanna get dressed up because of the f****** paparazzi,” Rodgers said.
Rodgers made it clear during his appearance on the show that he’s not happy with the paparazzi stalking him in Southern California.

Steelers All-Pro wide receiver DK Metcalf and Rodgers have formed a close bond since their throwing session with each other at UCLA in March.
“Yes, sir. We’re both based out of California, so yeah,” Metcalf said at mandatory minicamp when asked about training with Rodgers. “I planned on getting together with him before, just watching film or just talking ball.”
Rodgers praised Metcalf during his appearance on The Pat McAfee Show. Along with Mike Tomlin, he played a big part in the four-time NFL MVP landing in the Steel City.
“DK Metcalf is a lead by example guy. … He’s a big reason why I’m in Pittsburgh as well,” Rodgers said.
Rodgers wants to take on a leadership role with the Steelers, but he knows he’ll have to earn that trust from his teammates. Having a workout session in Malibu is good way to start.
“I really want the mantle of leadership on offense and I’m gonna earn it every single day in training camp. … I’ve played twenty years in this league and I wanna pass on my knowledge.”
Rodgers also praised the rest of the wide receivers corps, tight ends room and running backs group. It wouldn’t be surprising if nearly all of the pass-catchers are out in Malibu next week.
Metcalf is chomping at the bit to learn from the four-time NFL MVP quarterback.
“Just how cerebral he is and how he views the game,” Metcalf said at mandatory minicamp. “I like the way he views the game from a receiver’s standpoint, but also from a quarterback’s standpoint. I think I can gain a lot of knowledge just from being around him because he’s seen a lot of football. Just trying to soak up as much information as I can.”
Metcalf believes Rodgers’ skillset fits his game perfectly.
“How quickly he releases the ball and me getting off the line of scrimmage fast is one thing that stands out first,” he said.
