PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers revealed that he plans to practice Thursday and Friday to see if he can play on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.

Time is the most critical component for Rodgers to get back on the field.

“I’ve had more days for the callus to form and more healing, especially Monday and Tuesday just doing rehab. Today I did a little bit more,” Rodgers said. “Tomorrow I’ll do a little bit more and see where I’m at come Friday.”

Rodgers said his left wrist feel better than he did this time last week. However, he still hasn’t taken snaps from under center.

“Not today. We’ll see later in the week,” Rodgers said about taking snaps under center.

Rodgers confirmed it is a cast he’s wearing to protect his broken wrist.

“There’s limitations, for sure. That’s for safety,” he said.

Rodgers also admitted that he was frustrated by missing Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears.

“Yeah, for sure. I’m always wanting to play and there’s been very few times that an injury has been significant enough to keep me off the field, so that was definitely disappointing, but also being in Chicago but is what it is,” the four-time NFL MVP said.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said during his Tuesday press conference that he has “great optimism” about quarterback Aaron Rodgers (left wrist) being able to play against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

“We’re comfortable with his general trajectory,” Tomlin said of his 41-year-old quarterback, who will be limited to start the week. “But I’ll keep you updated. His level of participation and the quality of his participation over the course of the week will be the greatest indicator.”

Tomlin said Rodgers “worked his tail off” to be able to play against the Bears. He reiterated that it was the prudent move to keep him out of Sunday’s game.

Tomlin revealed after Sunday’s 31-28 loss to the Bears that he made the decision for Rodgers not to play on Saturday.

When asked if Rodgers was ready to play, Tomlin replied, “Aaron’s always ready to play.”
