It is highly doubtful that the New York Jets could have predicted the Steel City frenzy they set in motion when they announced that legendary QB Aaron Rodgers would not remain with the team in 2025 and beyond.

The Pittsburgh Steelers faithful are torn over whether Rodgers would be a good fit for their beloved Black and Gold, but they aren’t the only ones—ESPN analysts Stephen A. Smith and Chris Canty also clashed over the matter.

Canty, a former defensive end turned analyst, all but completely blamed the New York Jets’ 2024 struggles on Rodgers, advising the Steelers to steer clear of the former four-time MVP.

Smith quickly defended Rodgers as a fit for the Steelers:

“These are the Jets we’re talking about. Fourteen consecutive years they’ve missed the playoffs. They fire a coach in the middle of the season. They elevate the defensive coordinator to the interim coach. It’s very chaotic.”

“I ain’t saying Aaron Rodgers is washed, but if it looks like a duck and it quacks like a duck, then damn it, it’s a duck.” @ChrisCanty99 and @stephenasmith argue if Aaron Rodgers is a good fit for the Steelers pic.twitter.com/5r92xluQaG

Smith is correct on one aspect, Rodgers’ potential situation with the Pittsburgh Steelers would be far better than his time with the New York Jets.
