Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers spent his 42nd birthday in a unique way with his teammates.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers turned 42 on Tuesday — a milestone many players never reach in the NFL. However, he opted to spend his birthday in a unique way with his teammates.

According to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Rodgers hosted the Steelers wide receivers, tight ends and running backs at his house to watch film and go over plays. Wide receiver Ben Skowronek made sure the team still celebrated Rodgers’ birthday by bringing a decorated cake and singing happy birthday to him, though.

This isn’t the first time Rodgers has hosted his group of playmakers. Shortly, after signing his one-year deal with Pittsburgh this offseason, he had his receivers come to Malibu to train. Among those in attendance were Calvin Austin, D.K. Metcalf, Roman Wilson, Ben Skowronek, and Pat Freiermuth.

However, this time Rodgers believed it was necessary for him and the offense to talk X’s and O’s amid their slide. The Steelers have lost five of their last seven games and the offense is a big reason why as it has lacked consistency and big-play ability.

Pittsburgh’s Week 13 loss to the Buffalo Bills may have been the unit’s worst performance of the season as it was only able to muster 166 total yards and seven points.

Only time will tell if the extra work Rodgers and his arsenal of weapons is putting in will work, but the team isn’t sitting on its hands either.

The Steelers also claimed former All-Pro wide receiver Adam Thielen off waivers from the Minnesota Vikings on Tuesday as a bit of a birthday present for Rodgers.

It’s unclear how much the 35-year-old has left in the tank, but he has been a reliable wide receiver throughout his NFL career.

An undrafted free agent out of the 2013 NFL Draft, Thielen has recorded 963 catches for 8,380 yards and 64 touchdowns in his professional career.
