Aaron Rodgers, recently signed to a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers, announced on The Pat McAfee Show that he is “pretty sure” the 2025 NFL season will be his last.
If so, it would mark the end of a storied 20-year career that saw him win a Super Bowl and capture four league MVP trophies.
The 41-year-old quarterback expressed his desire to conclude his Hall of Fame career with “love, fun, and peace” in Pittsburgh.
“I’m pretty sure this is it. That’s why we did the one-year deal,” Rodgers said on Tuesday, according to Sports Illustrated. “Steelers didn’t need to put any extra years on that or anything. This was really about finishing with a lot of love and fun and peace for the career that I’ve had.”
Rodgers, who previously played for the Green Bay Packers and New York Jets, signed a one-year, $13.65 million contract with the Steelers after a tumultuous stint in the Big Apple.
Aaron Rodgers also confirmed on The Pat McAfee Show that he married a woman named Brittani a couple of months ago. But he expressed frustration over public and media scrutiny, calling it “(expletive) ridiculous.”
Rodgers said, despite being a public figure and sports celebrity, he has a right to privacy. He criticized the invasive actions of paparazzi and media, noting that his wife did not sign up for the celebrity life and prefers to stay out of the public eye.
“My private life is my private life and it’s going to stay that way, and I’m with somebody who wants to be private, and if and when she wants to be out and there’s a picture, she’ll choose that,” the new Steelers signal-caller demanded.
“But the entitlement to information about my private life is so (expletive) ridiculous and embarrassing,” he added.

Aaron Rodgers has had a long, tumultuous relationship with the media, and it seems reasonable that he’d want his new bride to avoid the same hostility.
Rodgers has been disliked ever since he adamantly opposed the NFL’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate. He received backlash because of the way he hedged on whether or not he complied, as if it was the sports media’s business.
He also drew criticism for poking fun at the infinitely unfunny Jimmy Kimmel. He was very coy about his injury status last year and whether he might retire, shades of Brett Favre’s perpetual battle with whether or not he would retire.
Last year, a survey conducted by The Action Network, drawing from over 3,000 NFL fans, named Rodgers the “most annoying” player in the league.
