As everyone awaits Aaron Rodgers’ decision between the Pittsburgh Steelers and retirement, the legendary quarterback made it clear that there’s one team he’ll never suit up for.

The New York Jets released Aaron Rodgers in March following a miserable 2024 season, opting for a clean slate under new head coach Aaron Glenn and GM Darren Mougey. The Jets signed free agent quarterback Justin Fields to a two-year deal, while Rodgers continues to consider an offer from the Steelers.

After New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr unexpectedly announced his retirement, many fans and pundits wondered if they’d target Rodgers in free agency. But the 41-year-old old has poured cold water over that possibility, in case the Saints actually wanted him.

Rodgers recently attended rapper Mike Stud’s concert in Austin, Texas, and even participated in a Q&A with fans. A fan asked him if he would consider signing with New Orleans and making them “great again”, and Rodgers didn’t have to hesitate.

“No…No, I’ve played there a couple times,” Rodgers said as the audience chuckled. “But no..I’m too old. I don’t want to live in Louisiana.”

Q: “Would you ever consider playing for the Saints?”

One can easily argue that the Saints are better off not signing Rodgers anyway. They need to see what they have in sophomore Spencer Rattler and rookie Tyler Shough. If neither succeeds in 2025, the Saints will have to take a quarterback in round one next year.

Steelers Are The Best Fit For Aaron Rodgers

At the end of the day, the Steelers remain the best landing spot for Rodgers, and it’s no wonder they’ve been the only team in serious negotiations with him since his release from the Jets.

Rodgers put up fine numbers on a lousy Jets team last year. If he goes to Pittsburgh, A-Rod would join a consistent playoff contender that hasn’t had elite quarterback play since Ben Roethlisberger’s last healthy season in 2018.

If Rodgers goes there, the Steelers can easily compete for a Super Bowl.
