Aaron Rodgers joined a podcast and revealed at some of the personal struggles he is facing in light of his future’s pending decision.
While the Pittsburgh Steelers are headed towards the next phase of the offseason, questions have remained about the quarterback position, specifically whether Aaron Rodgers will come to Pittsburgh. The Steelers have remained patient, and Rodgers revealed the reason for his delayed decision in a podcast appearance.
Rodgers joined The Joe Rogan Experience Podcast, which was published today. The four-time MVP and Rogan discussed politics, health, and medicine. He also revealed some of the personal things he’s dealing with.
“I’ve figured it out the last year when I’ve been in the weeds with these people who are close to me that have cancer.” Rodgers said when discussing cancer innovation. The former Green Bay Packer and New York Jet hinted at some issues in his personal life when he appeared on the Pat McAfee Show earlier this offseason.
“I have off-the-field stuff going on that requires my attention. I have personal commitments I have made. I have a couple of people in my inner, inner circle who are battling some difficult stuff. So, I have a lot of things that are taking my attention.” He told McAfee.
This may be the reason the Steelers have waited to this point with Rodgers. Some things are bigger than football. Regardless, as the offseason picks up towards mandatory camps, Rodgers sounded like someone who may be content with retirement, which he also told McAfee.
Ultimately, the Steelers are on Rodgers’ time clock if they elect to wait this out. They had the opportunity to retain Justin Fields or Russell Wilson. Instead, they both found their way to New York.
