Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers praised All-Pro wide receiver DK Metcalf during his appearance on The Pat McAfee Show. Along with Mike Tomlin, he played a big part in the four-time NFL MVP landing in the Steel City.

“DK Metcalf is a lead by example guy. … He’s a big reason why I’m in Pittsburgh as well,” Rodgers said.

Rodgers also raved about the rest of the wide receivers corps, tight ends room and running backs group. The future Hall of Fame talked at length of how great the tight ends room is.

“Pat’s a super talented guy,” Rodgers said. “He can do a lot of different things. He can block at the point of attack. He can split out, run routes; he can run choice routes, he can run seam routes.”

“And then you got big Darnell, who’s an on the ball tight end. Like a true Y tight end. He reminds me of Marcedes [Lewis], size first and foremost because he’s 6-8 and is pushing three bills. You would think, he’s that big, he can’t run. No man. The last play of the entire minicamp he caught a seam down the middle against Cover 2. I don’t know if it was [Will Howard or Skylar Thompson] who threw it. It was a great seed down the pipe. And Darnell, hands catch into the end zone.

“And then Connor Heyward, Cam’s little brother. Connor is a supper talented guy. He’s like a Swiss Army knife. He can do it all — he can block, he can move, he can slide across the formation, he catch the ball moving, he can run choice routes.”

Rodgers wants to take on a leadership role with the Steelers, but he knows he’ll have to earn that trust from his teammates. Having a workout session in Malibu is good way to start.

“I really want the mantle of leadership on offense and I’m gonna earn it every single day in training camp. … I’ve played twenty years in this league and I wanna pass on my knowledge.”

Rodgers confirmed on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday that he will have a throwing session with some teammates out in Malibu, Calif. next week.

“We have some guys coming out next week, so it’ll be fun to spend a little time with them. . . . Some of these guys might wanna get dressed up because of the f****** paparazzi,” Rodgers said.

Rodgers made it clear during his appearance on the show that he’s not happy with the paparazzi stalking him in Southern California.
