Newly acquired Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw an interception on his first pass during the team’s initial training camp practice at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.
The pass, intended for wide receiver DK Metcalf, was intercepted by two-time Pro Bowl linebacker Patrick Queen, prompting a loud reaction from those in attendance.
“It’s good to get that out the way,” Rodgers quipped, according to ESPN, after the game.
“Anybody that’s watched me practice over the years, you like to try certain throws at certain times, and anybody that’s watched me in the games knows I’ve been pretty stellar taking care of the football over the years.”

The four-time NFL MVP mentioned the heat on the field as possibly a factor while noting to fans that, hey, don’t worry, you’re going to see plenty of touchdowns too.
“It’s going to be a good challenge for me throwing in this heat every single day,” Rodgers said. “I look forward to it, but I’m going to throw some picks, but I’m going to throw some touchdowns, too.”
Rodgers, recently signed to a one-year deal with the Steelers, announced last month that he is “pretty sure” the 2025 NFL season will be his last.
If so, it would mark the end of a storied 20-year career that saw him win a Super Bowl, the Super Bowl MVP, and make 10 Pro Bowl appearances.
“I’m pretty sure this is it. That’s why we did the one-year deal,” Rodgers said on Tuesday, according to Sports Illustrated. “Steelers didn’t need to put any extra years on that or anything.”

Aaron Rodgers, who previously played for the Green Bay Packers and New York Jets, signed a one-year, $13.65 million contract with the Steelers after a tumultuous stint in the Big Apple.
That sketchy season will be in the back of the minds of Steelers fans when they see picks like they just saw in training camp. No worries, though, the man is learning a new system altogether in Pittsburgh.
Well, no worries unless you’re a curmudgeonly polarizing sports personality, like Skip Bayless.
Bayless expressed disbelief that the Steelers, a historically proud franchise, would even pursue Aaron Rodgers, arguing that his declining skills and lack of playoff success in recent years make him a poor fit.
“He was washed his last three years in Green Bay,” Bayless said. “Go look at the numbers of his last three playoff games in Green Bay … I told the Jets he was washed.”
