Aaron Rodgers laughs off Broderick Jones tackle: ‘I love Brod’

The Pittsburgh Steelers will look to get back on the winning track on Sunday night when they host the Green Bay Packers. Pittsburgh’s offense has been one of the best in the NFL, tied for seventh in EPA per play and 11th in points per game.

One of the reasons the offense has been playing so well is due to the improvement of the offensive line. Aaron Rodgers hasn’t been sacked over the last two games. Rodgers pointed that out on Wednesday, and then followed it with a joke about the viral tackle from Broderick Jones.

“I’m staying clean,” Rodgers said via Brooke Pryor, complimenting his offensive line. “The only tackle I had the other night was Broderick.”

Rodgers was then asked what went through his mind after his excited left tackle brought him to the ground.

“Brod is always the first one to come find me after a play,” Rodgers said with a smile. “It could be the first big pass down to DK on third down, and he’s coming and dapping me up. And what you don’t see in the video is right after the throw, he’s coming over to me and shaking me. I texted him like, ‘Hey man, I love your energy out there. I love everything you’re about. But also, I’m 41. You can’t be out there tackling me.‘ I love Brod. We had a couple of laughs about it, and I told him I’m getting him next.”

Rodgers and the offensive line have clearly developed a good relationship. The group was spotted at the Pittsburgh Penguins’ 5-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday. Considering how well things are going thus far, perhaps Rodgers would consider another year with the Steelers should the success continue.
