Aaron Rodgers has yet to play a single game for the Pittsburgh Steelers and is already sure he is finished after one season.
When Rodgers finally agreed to a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers earlier in June, it was only a one-year deal. However, it will likely be the final contract of Rodgers’ historic NFL career.
The new Steelers quarterback is “pretty sure” he will retire following the 2025 NFL season, he told “The Pat McAfee Show” on Tuesday.
“That’s why we did a one-year deal,” Rodgers said.

“The Steelers didn’t need to put any extra years on that or anything. This was really about finishing with a lot of love, fun, and peace for the career I’ve had. I’ve played 20 freaking years. It’s been a long, long run. I’ve enjoyed it.
“What better place to finish than with one of the cornerstone franchises of the NFL, Mike Tomlin, and a great group of leadership and guys in a city that expects you to win?”
2025 will mark Rodgers’ 21st in the NFL and his 18th as a starting quarterback.
For years, Aaron Rodgers has been known as one of the most polarizing figures in the NFL. A Super Bowl champion, multiple MVP award winner, and often outspoken, Rodgers has sparked his fair share of controversies over the course of his illustrious career.
Aaron Rodgers’ quest for a second Super Bowl victory can best be described as elusive. Despite consistently being a top-tier quarterback, he has not been able to return to the big game since 2011.
The team understands what Rodgers brings to the table. Even though quarterbacks like Mason Rudolph have potential, the cold, hard truth is that Rodgers gives the Steelers the best chance to win now.
He is headed to a Steelers team that could give him the best chance in years of finally getting back on top of the NFL world and walking away on top.
