Behind the Steel Curtain
The Pittsburgh Steelers marched into Baltimore and defeated the Ravens 27-22, reclaiming first place in the AFC North with just four games to play. Rodgers himself was fantastic, throwing for a season-high 284 yards and accounting for one rushing and one passing touchdown in the win.
The victory comes after a tension-filled week as it pertains to the Steelers and their fans, as well as many in the media. During the 26-7 loss to the Buffalo Bills, fans chanted, “Fire Tomlin.” This led to a week of constant discussion about whether or not it was time for Tomlin and the organization to part ways. Rodgers was asked after the game what the win means for those conversations.
“It means maybe you guys will shut the hell up for a week,” Rodgers said with a sly smile.
Rodgers has been open about his close relationship with Tomlin being a large reason why he signed with the Steelers in the first place. He’s far from the only player, current or former, who feels this way. Another win against the Miami Dolphins next Monday night would go a long way to quiet the crowd, as well.
