On Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers could surpass Brett Favre on the all-time NFL career passing touchdown list. Rodgers, who’s currently has 507 career regular-season touchdown passes, needs one touchdown pass to tie Favre and two to surpass him.
Rodgers had an eye-opening Steelers debut with four touchdown passes in Sunday’s 34-32 win over the New York Jets. On Wednesday, Rodgers downplayed being on the brink of breaking his former teammates record.
“It’s just a longevity achievement,” Rodgers said. “Some touchdowns, you make exceptional plays. Some, the scheme is so good, like the one to Jaylen (Warren) in the game. All I’ve got to do is not screw it up. And then sometimes you throw a short one to a guy and he goes 60 and it goes in the column all the same. So there’ve been a lot of guys involved in that, including the guys blocking, the guys calling the plays. Every now and then, I made some special throws that led to touchdowns, but I’ve been playing a long time. It’s a longevity thing that, you know, I’m proud of, but it’s not a big deal.”
Rodgers is on the verge of breaking several NFL milestones in his 21st season. In addition to needing two touchdown passes to surpass Favre for fourth-most all-time, he needs just 1,093 passing yards to surpass Ben Roethlisberger for the fifth-most all-time. Rodgers also needs 245 yards passing on Sunday to exceed Philip Rivers for sixth-most all-time.
Peyton Manning (539), Drew Brees (571) and Tom Brady (649) are the top 3 on the all-time NFL career passing touchdown list. Ben Roethlisberger (64,088), Brett Favre (71,838), Peyton Manning (71,940), Drew Brees (80,358) and Tom Brady (89,214) are currently the top five in all-time passing yards.
Rodgers can also become one of five quarterbacks in NFL history to beat all 32 teams with a win over the Green Bay Packers in Week 8 at Acrisure Stadium. It will be Rodgers’ first meeting against his former team since departing Green Bay after the 2022 season.
The four quarterbacks who have wins over all 32 NFL teams are Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, Tom Brady and Drew Brees.
