Aaron Rodgers Believes Steelers Can Make Run at Super Bowl

UNITY TWP, Pa. Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers acknowledged that all 32 NFL teams feel good about the outlook of their season at this time of the year, but he generally believes the Steelers can make a run at a Super Bowl in 2025.

“I think most of the 32 teams would say something to that accord at this time of the year,” Rodgers said after the first training camp practice at St. Vincent College on Thursday. “But I think that there’s really only six-to-eight that have a legitimate chance. Sometimes it’s 10-to-12 when there’s teams that surprise you. But I would say, on paper, we’re probably one of those 10-to-12.”

All-Pro defensive tackle Cam Heyward is heading his 15th NFL season. At age 35, Heyward knows he only has so many chances to accomplish one last thing to end his Hall of Fame career. And that’s to hoist the Lombardi Trophy.

Like Rodgers, Heyward believes the Steelers are set up to make a run.

“There are a lot of things I still want to accomplish in this league. And the first thing that comes to mind is holding one of those Lombardi’s one day,” Heyward said on The Rich Eisen Show earlier this month. “And I feel like we have the team to do it. You gotta love the way our staff and organization goes about every year, saying we’re trying to compete for a championship. It’s not like we’re trying to rebuild or hold anybody back. We know what this city wants, and as players, we want to answer that call.”

The Steelers made a slew of offseason moves. Head coach Mike Tomlin even admitted that it’s new territory for the club with the amount of roster turnover.

Pittsburgh turned plenty of heads with trading for Jalen Ramsey and Jonnu Smith earlier this month, lengthening a string of team-altering moves since its sizable 28-14 defeat against Lamar Jackson’s Ravens. The Steelers also traded for standout receiver DK Metcalf, shipped off the unpredictable George Pickens and signed Rodgers, who’s a four-time NFL MVP.

Heyward knows the Steelers have to prove it on the field. He doesn’t want to be the team being labeled paper champions.

“We’re not trying to be paper champs, we’re trying to be champs,” Heyward said at the Steelers first day of training camp at St. Vincent College. “You don’t win the Super Bowl now, but you learn how to be a better team and you learn how to be better situationally.”

Despite the major turnover, the Steelers are favored in only six of their 17 games in 2025. The oddsmakers are apparently not too impressed with the additions of Rodgers, Metcalf, Slay, Ramsey and Smith.

The Steelers’ odds to win the Super Bowl currently fall within the range of +3500 to +4200. Based on these odds, the Steelers are considered a middle-of-the-pack contender, ranking around 15th-best in the league.
