In his exit meetings with the New York Jets, in which they told Aaron Rodgers they were moving on from him despite him reportedly “urging” them not to, the 41-year-old four-time NFL MVP reportedly made his intentions for next season clear, which is that he plans to play in 2025.
After recovering from an ACL tear in 2023, Aaron Rodgers was able to start in all 17 games for the Jets this season. Nevertheless, the team was a massive disappointment as head coach Robert Saleh was fired after just five weeks before the team ultimately finished 5-12.
While Rodgers and Gang Green entered the 2024 season with Super Bowl expectations, they ultimately failed to make the playoffs for the 14th straight season, which is the longest active postseason drought across the NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB.
Despite causing some controversy last offseason by missing a few of the Jets’ voluntary workouts, Rodgers already seems ready to get back in shape as a recent photo of him in the gym has gone viral on social media, hilariously leading Jets fans to panic that he’s going to play for a different team and have an incredible 2025 season.

During the 2024 season with the Jets, Rodgers posted a 5-12 record while completing 63% of his passes for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
If Rodgers does ultimately decide to keep playing in 2025, it’s been speculated that teams such as the Las Vegas Raiders, Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns, and Tennessee Titans could be interested in signing him.
Unless new Raiders heac coach Pete Carroll can pull off a miracle turnaround, the only one of those teams close to sniffing the playoffs are the Pittsburgh Steelers, where its hard to imagine he and Mike Tomlin peacefully co-existing.
