The New England Patriots picked up their most important victory of the season in Week 16, as they rallied to earn a 28-24 win over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football. With two games left in the regular season, the Pats have taken a big step towards securing the top spot in the AFC East division.
With the Ravens in the rearview mirror, the Patriots will turn their attention to Week 17, where a matchup against the New York Jets awaits. It’s been a rough season for the Jets, and the Pats will likely be heavily favored to come out on top in this contest.
Over the past few weeks, New York has been forced to turn to undrafted rookie Brady Cook at the quarterback position. While Tyrod Taylor and Justin Fields are getting healthy, Cook remained the starter in the team’s Week 16 loss to the New Orleans Saints. Ahead of Week 17, Jets’ head coach Aaron Glenn revealed Cook will draw another start against N.E.
“Brady will be our starting quarterback,” Glenn announced on Monday morning when speaking to reporters.
Cook’s first couple of games in the NFL haven’t exactly been great, as he has thrown for just 527 yards and one touchdown through his first three games. Making matters even worse, he’s tossed six interceptions, as he’s struggled to get much of anything going in New York’s anemic offense.
Unless Cook can take a major step forward under center, the Patriots’ defense should have a field day in this one. However, they cannot take New York lightly, as New England needs another win in Week 17 to help solidify its playoff position.
