None of us really know how the 2025 season will go. Maybe quarterback Justin Fields will outpace his typical stat line, take the next step, and the New York Jets will shock the field as they march to the Super Bowl… or maybe he won’t be much better than he’s always been and the Jets will pick towards the top of the draft as they typically do.
But if they do pick high, it appears that the apple of many Jets fans eye may not be an option as Texas quarterback and potential #1 overall pick Arch Manning’s grandfather gave public quotes this week saying that Arch Manning expects to stay at Texas in 2026.
And thus the Awful for Arch consolation prize for a lost season is gone before it even needed to arrive. I’d say this is unprecedented but that would ignore the crucial part of New York Jets lore where hall of fame quarterback and Arch Manning’s uncle Peyton Manning opted to return to college rather than join the New York Jets in 1997 draft.
