Field Gulls welcomes new members to the team, and we do a Seahawks mock draft!
We’re in the really quiet, highly speculative portion of the NFL offseason. Free agency is one month away, while the NFL Draft is two months out, and the NFL schedule release is about three months out. That little break between the Super Bowl and free agency is either your hint to touch grass or the realization that you need some mock drafts in your life.
I joined Bryce Coutts and Ryan MacMillan on a special episode of the HawksZone Rundown podcast where we did a very early but reasonably thought out Seattle Seahawks seven-round mock draft—actually I’m in it, so “reasonably thought out” could be generous—using the PFF mock simulator. We’re not doing everything in the prism of John Schneider, and the nature of a simulator means no two mock drafts will be the same in terms of process or need. Hell, free agency hasn’t happened yet so there could be some assumptions made based on what happens in March.
HawksZone Rundown will be a part of the Field Gulls family moving forward. I’ve brought in both Ryan and Bryce to be a part of the staff. That means you will be getting regular HawksZone Rundown content on Field Gulls in addition to the ‘Pulse of the Hawks’ segment I do twice a month. From now until April there will be “Mock Draft Mondays” with different seven-round mocks and different simulators to keep things fresh.
We’ve had a bit of a podcasting void since the 2022 season with Dan Viens and Dayna O’Gorman, so Ryan and Bryce are filing that void and I’m sure they’ll do a great job. They’ve had the likes of Dan, Dayna, Jacson Bevens, Griff Sturgeon, Curtis Allen, Rob Staton, Lofa Tatupu, Gregg Bell, and Mike Sando on the show over the past couple of years and will continue to have great guests on throughout the year. Some shows will be live and others will be recorded in advance.
We’ll also have some podcast content geared toward Field Gulls readers, so that HZR is an embedded part of our community and not just within the realm of Seahawks podcasts. Please welcome them aboard!
