Saquon Barkley has been one of the most popular NFL players to bet on this season.
A week ago, Barkley broke DraftKings Sportsbook’s rushing prop record, but that won’t be the case for Super Bowl 59.
Barkley’s rushing yard prop currently sits at 112.5 yards, a number lower than the last few weeks but high for any running back participating in the Super Bowl.
The rest of Barkley’s props at New Jersey sports betting apps are over/under 22.5 rushing attempts, over/under 24.5 yards for longest rush and over/under 27.5 first-quarter rushing yards.
Barkley’s had at least 118 rushing yards in each of his last five games. He started the postseason with 119 against Green Bay, then had a massive 205-yard performance versus the Rams and totaled 118 in the win over the Commanders.
Barkley had 26 and 25 rush attempts in the first two playoff games, but only carried the ball on 18 occasions against Washington.
He had long runs of 78 and 60 in the last two rounds, but only broke free for a 17-yard long against Green Bay.
All of the postseason numbers suggest the over on Barkley’s three main rushing props are in play.
If you build out the trend to the entire Eagles regular season, Barkley has nine longest rushes of 30+ yards. He had four other games in which he produced a long run between 20 and25 yards.
In terms of carries, Barkley had more than 20 on 12 occasions. He had 23+ rushing attempts in nine of those 12 games.
Similarly, Barkley ran for at least 118 yards in 11 games. He had between 100 and 110 rushing yards on three more occasions.
To break that all down, Barkley is going to get close to hitting the over on yards, attempts and the longest rush based on the season-long trends.
Kansas City’s rushing defense has not been overly impressive of late, either, which could draw you more to the over. The Chiefs allowed more than 140 rushing yards in each of their last four games. KC let up 149 ground yards to the Texans and the Bills ran for 147.
The Chiefs have also let up more than 100 rushing yards in their last two Super Bowl appearances. The Birds ran for 115 in 2023, with Jalen Hurts leading the way with 70 yards. Kenneth Gainwell and Miles Sanders had seven rushing attempts each while Hurts ran the ball 15 times and Boston Scott had three carries.
So that’s 32 carries that went along with Hurts’ 38 pass attempts in Super Bowl 57. If a similar game script takes place, there should be plenty of opportunities for Barkley to carry the ball, and at minimum, hit the rush attempt prop.
