There’s no shortage of Philadelphia sports on this weekend.
That’s not to say any of them are worth watching, but hey, there are at least some wagering options from Friday night to Sunday afternoon.
Oilers at Flyers (Saturday, 1 p.m. ET)
The NHL is going to be a fickle beast to bet this weekend because you have some players returning from the 4 Nations tournament and other players coming off two-week breaks.
Connor McDavid only had to travel from Boston to Philly after Canada’s win, but I’d stay far away from his props, and perhaps I would bet the under on his shots on goal because of the hangover.
Travis Sanheim and Travis Konecny were also part of Canada’s winning squad, but Konecny was a healthy scratch on Thursday, so he should be good to go.
The Flyers took the Oilers to overtime back in October and Saturday might be the perfect storm for them. A hungover McDavid, the rest of the Oilers off a two-week break and the early afternoon start could make Edmonton a bit sluggish. I think the under is definitely in play here, or at least the first period under.
Nets at Sixers (Saturday, 7:30 p.m. ET)
I don’t even know what you do with the Sixers anymore.
They’re going to be favored against the Nets, but there’s absolutely no trust left in them.
Simply put, they need to beat the shit out of the Nets to restore even an ounce of confidence. There’s a decent stretch ahead to win games against the Nets and Bulls.
The one player I would definitely look into for props is Quentin Grimes. He’s had at least seven rebounds in each of his last four games and dished out at least three assists in that span as well. I’d take his rebounds/assists combo prop.
Union at Orlando City (Saturday, 7:30 p.m. ET)
The Union made a bunch of roster changes, which were two years overdue, but at least they happened.
They are +320 to win and a draw sits at +295.
Who knows if the defense will hold up after last year’s calamity at the back, but we know the Union can at least score, so I would look into Both Teams to Score and either Daniel Gazdag or Tai Baribo to score for the Union.
Marquette (-1.5) at Villanova (O/U: 142.5) (Friday, 7 p.m. ET)
Marquette and Villanova are both hovering around the .500 mark when it comes to their against the spread records. Nova is 14-13 and Marquette is 12-13-1.
On paper, the Golden Eagles are the far better team, but they are 2-3 straight up and 1-4 ATS in their last five games.
Surprisingly, Nova is 5-4 ATS as an underdog and 3-1 straight up as an underdog of four points or less.
Nova is the far better team to the over. The Cats are 16-10-1 to the over, while Marquette is 10-14-2.
Dartmouth at Penn (-1.5) (O/U: 148.5) (Friday, 7 p.m. ET)
