The Buffalo Bills have a fairly diverse offense. While they have the reigning NFL MVP lining up at quarterback, they have a variety of auxiliary weapons who can hurt teams in different ways. The team loves to run the football, and they love to do so out of a variety of personnel groupings. Using different personnel groupings also lends itself to providing multiple pass-catchers with the opportunity to succeed.
Offensive coordinator Joe Brady preached a selfless mindset last season, and soon, it seemed that everyone in Buffalo was reminding people that, in this offense, “everybody eats.” There is no traditional WR1 on the Bills’ roster. Instead, they have a group pass catchers who all possess certain skills that can make them a nightmare for opposing defenses.
In today’s edition of “90 players in 90 days,” we focus on the pass-catcher who led the Bills in virtually every receiving category last season.

Name: Khalil Shakir
Number: 10
Position: WR
Height/Weight: 6’, 190 pounds
Age: 25 (26 on 2/3/2026)
Experience/Draft: 4; drafted by Buffalo in the fifth round (No. 148 overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft
College: Boise State
Acquired: fifth-round draft choice
Financial situation (per Spotrac): Shakir is playing under the terms of his rookie deal in 2025, but he signed a four-year extension worth $53.08 million in the offseason. That means that his cap hit for the year remains low ($2,595,293) while he receives the benefit of extra guarantees that would result in a large dead-cap charge for Buffalo ($18,195,293) if he were to be released.
2024 Recap: Shakir was the only wideout who had prior experience working with Allen to begin the 2024 season, and that chemistry and connection flashed all throughout the year. Shakir is dynamic in the slot and on the outside, and his ability to break tackles and convert short passes into long gains was on full display in his first real shot at extended action.
Shakir led the Bills in targets (100), receptions (76), and receiving yards (821). He was second on the team in receiving touchdowns, tying rookie Keon Coleman with four.
In the playoffs, Shakir was Allen’s top target by a two-to-one margin, seeing 20 targets in three games. He caught 18 of those passes for 174 yards. He also served as the team’s punt returner in the postseason, averaging a league-high 12 yards per return on three tries in the postseason.
Positional outlook: Shakir is once again among the top receivers on Buffalo’s depth chart, slotting in with Coleman and newcomer Joshua Palmer as the first three receivers on the field. Elijah Moore, Tyrell Shavers, and Curtis Samuel are the other wideouts on the 53-man roster.
2025 Offseason: Shakir suffered an ankle sprain in the Return of the Blue & Red scrimmage, an injury that caused him to miss a month of practice. He was able to return for the season-opener, and he caught six passes for 64 yards on nine targets in the game.
2025 Season outlook: Shakir is a...
