Entering the 2024 NFL season, the Buffalo Bills knew they needed a wide receiver. They had just traded Stefon Diggs, whose bellyaching had led him to wear out his welcome in nearly the same manner as it had with the Minnesota Vikings. The team knew it needed to add weapons for quarterback Josh Allen, and they had a great chance at doing so given the high regard in which the receiver class was held last year.
After a few tradebacks, the Bills did eventually nab their man at wideout — adding a big-bodied playmaker whose calling card in college was making contested catches. That’s a hard talent to translate to the NFL, though, as the defensive backs are bigger, faster, stronger, and just overall better in the pros than they are in the NCAA.
Perhaps predictably, Buffalo’s rookie wideout struggled at times, as many rookie receivers do. Could he work to create more separation? Could he work to improve his positioning on those contested grabs that were his calling card entering the draft?
In our latest installment of “90 Buffalo Bills players in 90 days,” we discuss a second-year man looking forward to a big breakout this season.

Name: Keon Coleman
Number: 0
Position: WR
Height/Weight: 6’4” 215 lbs.
Age: 22 (23 on 5/17/2026)
Experience/Draft: 2; selected by Buffalo in the second round (No. 33 overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft

Financial situation (per Spotrac): Coleman enters the second year of his four-year rookie contract, which is worth $10,074,258 overall. He carries a cap hit of $2,298,109 if he’s on the 53-man roster. The Bills would carry a dead-cap charge of $7,817,317 if he’s released, a total that represents the remaining guaranteed money on the deal.
2024 Recap: Coleman had an up-and-down rookie season. He missed some time in the middle of the year with an injured wrist, limiting him to just 13 games in his first pro season. He was still third on the team in targets, as his 57 targets trailed just Khalil Shakir and Dalton Kincaid. Coleman caught just 29 of those targets for 556 yards and four touchdowns.
His biggest game came against the Tennessee Titans in Week 7, when he caught four passes for 125 yards. That was before his wrist injury occurred, and he missed Weeks 10-14 while healing. When Coleman returned, he caught just 7-of-21 passes thrown his way for 139 yards and a score over the last four games. In the playoffs, Coleman was mostly a nonfactor, catching three passes for 22 yards on eight targets.
Positional outlook: Coleman is among the safest wideouts on the roster. At the end of the preseason, the Bills had Coleman, Shakir, Curtis Samuel, Elijah Moore, Laviska Shenault Jr., Joshua Palmer, Tyrell Shavers, Stephen Gosnell, Deon Cain, Kristian Wilkerson, and K.J. Hamler playing with the club.
2025 Offseason: Coleman is healthy and ready to roll for the regular season.
