The Buffalo Bills have amassed enviable offensive line depth over the last few years. Whether it’s through the NFL Draft, where they select toolsy players with upside, or through scouring the market for experienced veterans with some positional versatility, the Bills always seem to have a glut of depth up front.
That’s not by accident, as general manager Brandon Beane sees the value in strength in the trenches. The Bills have a clear starting five on the offensive line, but they arguably have four players in their reserve ranks who could start for many other teams, including this one if some players were to suffer injuries.
In today’s edition of “90 players in 90 days,” we discuss a backup offensive lineman who sees plenty of time as a sixth lineman during games.

Name: Alec Anderson
Number: 70
Position: OT
Height/Weight: 6’5”, 305 pounds
Age: 25 (26 on 10/3/2025)
Experience/Draft: 3; signed with Bills following 2022 NFL Draft
College: UCLA
Acquired: UDFA signing
Financial situation (per Spotrac): Anderson’s one-year contract is worth $1.03 million for the season if he makes the 53-man roster. The Bills won’t carry any dead-cap charge if he’s released.
2024 Recap: Not only did Anderson make the 53-man roster last season, but he played in all 17 games for the Bills, as well. He slotted in as the team’s sixth offensive lineman, which was a look that offensive coordinator Joe Brady used often.
Anderson played over a quarter of the team’s total offensive snaps for the year, which is wild considering that Buffalo started the same fivesome along the offensive line in every game that mattered (the regular-season finale notwithstanding). That means that Anderson out-snapped tight end Quintin Morris, running back Ray Davis, and fullback Reggie Gilliam, among others. He started at left guard against the New England Patriots in the final game of the regular season.
Positional outlook: Anderson is listed as a tackle even though he plays multiple positions up front. The other players listed at tackle are Spencer Brown, Dion Dawkins, Tylan Grable, Travis Clayton, Richard Gouraige, Ryan Van Demark, and Chase Lundt. The interior linemen on the team include Connor McGovern, O’Cyrus Torrence, Dan Feeney, David Edwards, Jacob Bayer, Sedrick Van Pran-Granger, Kendrick Green, and Mike Edwards.
2025 Offseason: Anderson did not play in Buffalo’s preseason opener against the New York Giants. He’s been battling a knee issue, for which he had surgery during training camp. Head coach Sean McDermott has termed him “week-to-week.” He did participate in limited fashion during practice on August 12 and 13, however.
2025 Season outlook: If Anderson is healthy, he’s going to begin the season on the 53-man roster and play a significant part in the team’s offensive plans this season. If he isn’t healthy, he’ll likely begin the season on injured reserve, and the Bills will bring him back after six weeks to play a significant part in the team’s offensive plans. I don’t see a scenario where he’s released, especially now since he’s injured,...
