Adarius Taylor, who played linebacker for seven seasons in the NFL for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Carolina Panthers and the Cleveland Browns, was arrested as part of a massive human-trafficking sting. He was one of more than 250 people arrested in a multi-agency undercover investigation called “Operation Fool Around and Find Out.”

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office in Florida, “Operation Fool Around and Find Out” was conducted from May 2 to May 10 and included participation from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Adarius Taylor, 34, was arrested on charges of felony negligent child abuse without bodily harm and misdemeanor solicitation of prostitution charges. Polk Sheriff Grady Judd said Taylor brought his 6-year-old to the location of the sting operation and left the child inside his car when he went inside. The child was taken into custody by the Florida Department of Children and Families.

“Obviously he must have hit one too many people as a linebacker, because his brain cells are scrambled,” Sheriff Judd said during a press conference.

“This is the highest number of suspects we’ve ever arrested during a single undercover operation – in addition to these 244 arrests, we also arrested 11 child predators who solicited who they thought were children online in order to sexually batter them,” Judd said in a statement. “The online prostitution industry enables traffickers and allows for the continued victimization of those who are being trafficked. Our goal is to identify victims, offer them help, and arrest those who are fueling the exploitation of human beings (Johns) and those profiting from the exploitation of human beings. Prostitution is not a victimless crime – it results in exploitation, disease, drug and alcohol addiction, violence, and broken families.”

Out of the total of 255 people that were arrested in the sting operation, 141 were charged with soliciting prostitutes, 93 with offering to commit prostitution, 10 with offenses related to prostitution such as aiding and abetting or transporting prostitutes, and 11 with traveling to meet a minor for sex or other child sex crimes. American citizens that were arrested in the sting were from the states of Florida, Connecticut, Illinois, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. Those from outside the United States that were arrested came from as far away as Brazil, and 36 of those arrested were undocumented migrants.

Adarius Taylor (born Adarius Glanton) earned more than $6.5 million in the NFL. He last played in the league in 2020. His best season came in 2018 when he recorded 60 tackles with the Buccaneers. He also played three games for the Calgary Stampeders of the CFL in 2023.
