6 New York Giants WR Trade Targets After Clearing Cap Space

Chances are, the New York Giants won’t be able to make up enough ground after a 0-3 start to their season. Yet, after seeing how much spunk rookies Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo have injected into Brian Daboll’s offense, maybe there’s still hope despite their 2-4 record.

While the Giants’ rookies have propelled them to wins in two of their past three games, not having superstar receiver Malik Nabers for the rest of the season will sting. Yet, if the Giants are serious about competing, they’ll try adding another receiver before the Nov. 4 NFL trade deadline passes.

Now that the Giants have cleared $4.8 million in cap space by restructuring Paulson Adebo and Jevon Holland’s contracts, it’s time to seriously consider which receivers the Giants could trade for. So we came up with a quick list of six Giants trade targets down below.

Rashid Shaheed

Are there receivers available who are better than Rashid Shaheed? Surely. Yet, from a long-term team-building perspective, the Giants don’t need anyone who resembles a No. 1 receiver. They already have Malik Nabers for that. However, the Giants could use another field-stretcher and Shaheed’s speed certainly fits the bill. Plus, he’s a former All-Pro return specialist, providing added value on special teams too.

Jakobi Meyers

Jakobi Meyers already requested a trade before the season started, but he decided to be a good sport and suit up for the Las Vegas Raiders anyway. Now that the Raiders have sunk to a 1-5 start, Meyers’ stance on wanting out likely hasn’t changed. If anything, his desire to leave has been strengthened. Already becoming a 1,000-yard receiver last season, Meyers is entering the final year of his contract but the 28-year-old would be an ideal complementary receiver to the Giants’ existing core.

Calvin Ridley

At times, Calvin Ridley has produced like a No. 1 receiver, but not with the current Tennessee Titans. Now the 30-year-old is averaging a career-low 48.3 yards per game and he probably isn’t thrilled about playing for an organization that may be headed for another reset. Yet, the Giants know who their franchise quarterback is, and Ridley would arrive knowing that he’ll eventually face less attention from defenses once Nabers returns. Until then, he’ll earn more targets as their No. 1 receiver.

Jerry Jeudy

Like a few other players on this list, Jerry Jeudy doesn’t know who his long-term quarterback will be, and his production has taken a hit this season. The one-time Pro Bowler is averaging a career-low 40 yards per game. We can’t exactly blame him either, as the 26-year-old is coming off his best year, recording 1,229 receiving yards. Moreso, the Browns’ QB situation, which doesn’t even have Joe Flacco anymore, has resulted in Jeudy’s best games consisting of 66 and 51 yards. But he’s averaged just 30.7 yards per game across...
