Taylor Elgersma will be the first quarterback to participate in the Senior Bowl who played for a college football team in Canada. He has very quickly emerged as an NFL Draft sleeper over the last few months.

His rise could reach historic heights with a strong performance in Mobile next week.

Before we go any further, lets make this important distinction very clear. Elgersma is not the first player from Canada to compete at the Senior Bowl. In fact, the premier all-star game in college football has had players from north of the border every year for the last six years.

Elgersma is the second player in Senior Bowl history to come directly from a Canadian college football team, which they call U Sports, and the first quarterback. He did not play on the FBS, FCS, D-II or D-II level in the United States at any point during his career. He played all five seasons at a school in Canada.

Taylor Elgersma is legit!

Wilfrid Laurier University, most commonly referred to as just Laurier, was established in 1911. It is located in Waterloo, Ontario and enrolls approximately 22,000 students. Elgersma was one of them.
