The Cleveland Browns are in the midst of the offseason as they prep for the upcoming 2025-26 NFL campaign. The quarterback room has already become a major topic of discussion.
The team boasts a pair of seasoned veterans and three young newcomers vying for the starting role. Joe Flacco is taking two new rookies under his wing.
The room as a whole consists of Flacco, Deshaun Watson, Kenny Pickett, Shedeur Sanders, and Dillon Gabriel.
Watson is recovering from injury, putting his status in doubt. He seems to be enjoying the rehab process, recently dropping $200k on a bachelor party dinner in Florida.
The other four players are on the field, battling for their spots on the depth chart. Flacco has the most experience. Pickett was acquired in an offseason trade. Gabriel and Sanders were both selected in the most recent NFL Draft.
Joe Flacco has started more than 190 NFL games across a 17-year career. His three quarterback teammates have combined to make 25 total starts. That could give him an early leg up in the race.
Still, the veteran is open to helping the youngsters advance their professional journeys.
“I’m not a mentor. I play football… [But] there’s already been a lot of times where there’s learning experiences, and I have a lot of experience, and I can talk on things, and hopefully they listen.”
-Joe Flacco
Flacco is up for teaching when applicable. With that in mind, he’s still competing for the QB1 title. While everyone continues to compete, it does seem the rookies have embraced the opportunity to learn from Flacco in Year 1.
Shedeur Sanders has been in awe of the Super Bowl winning signal caller since arriving to Cleveland.

This week, Flacco showed some love to Dillon Gabriel. The duo posed for a photo during a Cleveland Browns team shoot. It went viral on social media after the fact.
The quarterbacks recreated a photo that included defensive teammates Martin Emerson Jr. and Grant Delpit. Flacco dwarfed Gabriel. He made him look like a child, even while squatting down.

Dillon Gabriel’s size was a concern that predated the NFL Draft. He is the shortest passer on the Cleveland roster.
Earlier this offseason, he was brutally mocked by a local media member for his small stature. That roast is continuing...
