By happenstance, the Green Bay Packers face the Arizona Cardinals in Week 7. Sunday’s look could provide Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst with a chance to get a first-hand look at a veteran interior defender who could make a real impact for this defense.

Green Bay already lost standout defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt to a knee injury. Now, defensive lineman Lukas Van Ness is out indefinitely with a knee issue. It’s left the team dependent on Karl Brooks and Colby Wooden to fill in, since Nazir Stackhouse has proven unplayable. Entering Week 7, Campbell has the third-highest ESPN pass-rush win rate (17 percent), and he’s been a solid interior run defender. Carrying just a $6 million cap hit, he’d be an outstanding half-season addition to the Packers’ defensive line.
The Carolina Panthers run defense has been transformed this season, going from the league’s worst unit in 2024 to a top-10 run defense this season. Meanwhile, Carolina’s passing game is improving and those two steps forward have resulted in the team sitting at .500 for the first time since 2021. However, there’s one glaring need that needs to be addressed if the team wants to challenge for a playoff spot.

Entering Week 7, Carolina ranks 29th in ESPN pass-rush win rate (30 percent) and it is last in pressure rate (8.4 percent). Because the Panthers don’t have a consistent pass rush, opponents still have plenty of success passing on this unit. Jaelan Phillips, who has 16 pressures in his last four games (PFF), addresses that glaring weakness. Carolina could make its draft pick sent to the Miami Dolphins contingent on Phillips re-signing this offseason.
He on from Breece Hall. While the young running back wants to remain with the team, he’s prominent in NFL trade rumors and the Los Angeles Chargers are known to be in the market for a running back following major injuries to Najee Harris and Omarion Hampton.
