Recent days have largely been indicative of the NFL’s slowest period in the offseason, although Saturday brought about a major development regarding the league’s next franchise sale. In case you missed of this week’s top stories, here is a quick recap:

  • Khosla Family To Purchase Seahawks: News broke yesterday of an agreement being reached for the Seahawks to be sold. A group led by 49ers minority owner Vinod Khosla has agreed to purchase the franchise, and to no surprise a new record regarding the sales price has been reached. The deal is worth just over $9.6 billion, comfortably marking a new high point in franchise values. The Seahawks had been on the market since their Super Bowl victory, and Khosla recently became a finalist after the first round of bids. He will divest his 49ers stake before the sale receives formal approval from the NFL’s other owners. A meeting has been set for August 26, so the ownership transfer should be official in time for the start of the 2026 season.
  • Buccaneers Not Close To Mayfield, Vea Extensions: Mutual interest has long existed between the Buccaneers and Baker Mayfield regarding an extension. As Tampa Bay’s starting quarterback approaches his self-stated deadline (the onset of training camp) for negotiations to end, however, a gap remains between where both sides stand with respect to a price point. At least one offer has been made, but it does not appear to have yielded much progress. Likewise, the Bucs are not close to a contract agreement with Pro Bowl defensive tackle Vita Vea, who made clear his desire for an updated deal this spring. Both veterans are pending 2027 free agents, so urgency on the extension front may pick up shortly.
  • Arnold Drawing NFL Interest: Terrion Arnold cleared waivers on Monday, as many expected. Despite the fact his legal case is far from over, teams have shown interest in the free agent corner. The Texans hosted Arnold on a workout, while other visits have been arranged as well. The Colts and Jets have also been named as possible suitors, although the Seahawks appear to be out of the running in this case. Arnold faces numerous felony charges stemming from his role in an alleged revenge kidnapping plot, and it remains to be seen how his trial will play out. The possibility of an NFL suspension looms as well. In spite of those factors, the former first-rounder has at least a limited market at this point.
  • Hill Could Miss 2026 Season: Questions continue to linger over the future of Tyreek Hill. The All-Pro wideout saw his 2025 campaign end abruptly due to a major leg injury, and his recovery remains a source of hesitation from NFL teams. Hill, 32, is still a free agent as things stand, and that is expected to continue for the time being. The eight-time Pro Bowler is in danger of missing the entire 2026 season given his current situation. Hill has previously floated the possibility of...
