With players reporting to training camps around the league, a number of developments have taken place in recent days. Plenty of high-profile contract situations remain unresolved at this point, but several deals have been struck. In case you missed any of this week’s top stories, here is a quick recap:
- Brissett Agrees To Cardinals Raise: Jacoby Brissett did not participate in spring practices while seeking an upgraded contract from the Cardinals. Arizona’s 2026 QB1 has now succeeded in securing a raise, with a new one-year pact having been worked out. Brissett is in line to collect $15.5MM in base pay with the potential to earn up to $21MM. That represents a sharp spike in short-term compensation but still lands on the low end of annual pay for starting quarterbacks. Brissett – who took over from Kyler Murray midway through the 2025 campaign and remained atop the depth chart the rest of the way – is still on course for free agency next spring. The same is also true of Gardner Minshew, who led the offense through OTAs and minicamp but will handle backup duties moving forward.
- Brooks Lands Dolphins extension: The Dolphins have turned over much of their roster during the opening stages of a long-term rebuild, but the likes of De’Von Achane and Aaron Brewer received extensions from Miami’s new regime. Linebacker Jordyn Brooks was also identified as a candidate for a new deal, and one was reached to prevent a potential 2027 departure. As expected, Brooks did not move to the top of the LB pecking order with his extension, but he is set to receive $35MM guaranteed as a result of the deal. Coming off a first-team All-Pro season in 2025 (during which he led the NFL in tackles), Brooks will be expected to remain an anchor of Miami’s defense for the foreseeable future.
- Packers Extend Wyatt: Devonte Wyatt was set to play 2026 on his fifth-year option before a potential trip to free agency. Instead, he will remain in place with the Packers thanks to a three-year extension. Wyatt is due to collect $57MM on his new contract, one which includes a $20MM signing bonus. Totaling 14.5 sacks over the past three seasons, Wyatt will be tasked with remaining a regular presence in the pass-rush department along the defensive interior. If the 28-year-old can rebound from a health standpoint (after being limited to 10 games last season), he will remain a full-time starter in 2026 and well beyond.
- Panthers Lose Scourton To ACL Tear: It did not take long for 2026’s first major injury to occur. During the Panthers‘ opening training camp practice, edge rusher Nic Scourton was carted off the field. Tests soon followed and they confirmed an ACL tear. As a second-round rookie, Scourton posted five sacks and totaled seven starts in 2025.
