This offseason saw the San Francisco 49ers trade Deebo Samuel after the one-time All-Pro wideout requested a move to another team. Now, it’s Jauan Jennings’ turn after a career year.
According to ESPN’s NFL expert Adam Schefter, Jennings is seeking either a new contract from the 49ers or a trade to a different team before the season kicks off. While Jennings was nothing more than a role player throughout the first four years of his career, last season saw him record 975 yards and six touchdowns.
With his trade value at an all-time high, perhaps the 49ers will consider trading the 28-year-old wideout, especially considering they already gave him a new contract extension last season. Of course, that was before his big breakout year.
Jennings is set to have a cap hit of $4.25 million this season, in the final year of his contract. Yet, Spotrac suggests Jennings’ true market value is worth a two-year contract equal to $20 million in total earnings.
If the 49ers do wish to capitalize on Jennings’ newfound trade value, let’s take a look at some of the best landing spots for the breakout receiver.

Like another team on this list, the New Orleans Saints still don’t know who their starting quarterback will be. But how can you fairly evaluate the most important position in football without providing him with an abundance of skilled pass-catchers? The bottom line is this team needs more help than Chris Olave, especially considering he only made it through eight games last season.
The New York Jets started over this offseason. Now they’re ready to move forward with Justin Fields, but have they provided enough weapons for their new dual-threat quarterback? Garrett Wilson is a bonafide No. 1 wideout, but Jennings would give them a legitimate No. 2 receiver.
The Cleveland Browns don’t know who their quarterback will be this season, but they’re also still working to line up their receiving corps after Jerry Jeudy. Cedric Tillman, the team’s third-round pick from 2023, figures to have a big role, but adding Jennings could be the missing piece that helps this group of quarterbacks find a moderate level of success.

Now armed with a Pro Bowl quarterback, the Las Vegas Raiders may not have enough talented pass-catchers to match. Sure, Brock Bowers is a superstar, but the rest of the group is largely unproven. Meanwhile, Jennings would give them a talented route-runner who hauled in an impressive 68.1% of his targets last season, good for 33rd among wide receivers.
