The 49ers will be without Demarcus Robinson for a while as he serves his NFL-mandated suspension.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Robinson has been banned for three games for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy.

The 30-year-old joined the 49ers on March 11 after spending two years with the Rams. The Florida product is entering his 10th NFL season, so this isn’t the best start to his 49ers career.

Last month, ESPN noted Robinson was sentenced to three years’ probation, fined $390, and ordered to complete court-mandated programs after he pleaded no contest to the misdemeanor charge.

Demarcus Robinson will remain eligible to participate in the remaining training camp practices and Saturday’s preseason finale against the Los Angeles Chargers.

He posted 31 catches for 505 yards and seven touchdowns last year for the Rams.

Demarcus Robinson Likely Planning To Appeal Suspension

On Wednesday, San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan joined Bay Area radio station KNBR to confirm that the NFL has suspended wide receiver Demarcus Robinson three games for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.

He will begin serving his suspension at the start of the 2025 regular season.

Shanahan left the door open for an appeal.

When asked if the three-game suspension was official, Shanahan responded, “Yes. You can always appeal it, so we’ll hope for the best on that. But that’s what we’re planning for.”

This is a tough break for the 49ers as Deebo Samuel is no longer on the team, and Brandon Aiyuk is working his way back from last season’s knee injury. Equanimeous St. Brown is out for the year, and Jauan Jennings has dealt with a calf injury at times in training camp.

Earlier this month, the 49ers found out that veteran running back Ameer Abdullah would be sidelined for the year as well.

Demarcus Robinson is essential to the passing game, and now he will be down as well.
