Okay, so Philip Rivers almost had a dream comeback after ending his five-year retirement to play for the Indianapolis Colts. The Seattle Seahawks thwarted Rivers with an 18-16 victory thanks to six Jason Myers field goals.
Philip Rivers is 4-0 against the San Francisco 49ers. A win for the Colts at home on Monday Night Football keeps them alive in the playoff hunt and severely damages the 49ers’ chances of winning the NFC West. They don’t have to worry about missing the playoffs, as they’ve already clinched through the Detroit Lions’ loss on Sunday.
As a reminder: For the Seahawks to clinch the NFC West, one of the things that must happen is the 49ers losing either versus the Colts or the Chicago Bears this Sunday. One outcome seems more probable than the other, but stranger things have happened!
What we do know is that if the 49ers win against the Colts, Seattle cannot clinch the No. 1 seed in Week 17.
