The San Francisco 49ers have canceled their mandatory minicamp scheduled for June 9-10 after achieving perfect attendance during this week’s organized team activities (OTAs).
Head coach Kyle Shanahan made the decision as a reward for the team’s full participation and commitment throughout the offseason program, NBC Sports’ Matt Maiocco reported Wednesday.
“Coach Kyle Shanahan has canceled next week’s mandatory minicamp as a reward for 100-percent attendance this week and the work put in during the 49ers’ offseason program, a team official says,” Maiocco wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
The 49ers are down to the wire in their offseason schedule, with one last OTA practice on Thursday. That session will now be the team’s last organized activity before training camp begins later this summer.
San Francisco had originally planned to host minicamp at the SAP Performance Facility in Santa Clara, California. With those practices removed from the calendar, players will receive additional time before reporting for training camp. NFL rules allow teams to open camp for rookies up to seven days before veterans are required to report, making mid-July the likely timeframe for the next team gathering.
Every member of the 49ers roster took part in this week’s OTA sessions except Brandon Aiyuk, who was not present as he won’t be on the team by the time the regular season starts.
The decision indicates Shanahan’s satisfaction with the team’s offseason progress. It also provides players with extra recovery time before training camp, where roster battles and preparation for the 2026 season will intensify.
Expectations remain sky-high in San Francisco as the 2026 season approaches. The 49ers’ projected win total is 10.5, matching division rivals the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams, according to FOX Sports.
