Things could (and most likely will) change.

The San Francisco 49ers are getting more love. It may not be scientific, but it is a popular way to gauge things.

It’s that time of year again when the folks at EA have gamers pony up a bunch of cash for another football game at full price, but with minimal improvements. The beta for this year’s Madden 26 has been ou,t and it seems like the ratings have been leaked.

Yes, the 49ers sit at the top, alongside the Kansas City Chiefs, at 92. The defending Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, are down at ninth with an 87 rating. Tied with the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals.

As a 49ers fan, even I have to question this—and it probably won’t be the final rating. I don’t think the sky has fallen quite like some may say with all the roster churn, but I do think the team’s youth might cause some issues more often than not.

That said, this is a beta. Even for a game that offers minimal improvements, Electronic Arts—Madden’s developer and publisher—routinely scrambles lineups, playbooks, and even team ratings during this phase to prevent full leaks. EA could easily update the rankings later this summer as we get closer to launch. That’s exactly why we’re not going to get too deep into player ratings yet—everything could shift in a month. It’s also worth noting that some sites currently list the 49ers at 87 overall instead of 92, so the reshuffling may already be underway.

But for now, the 49ers are sitting at 92. Tied. With those Chiefs.

What do you think? You think the ranking will change, or will this be the final rating of the 49ers for the 2025 season?

Madden 26 officially releases on Thursday, August 14. Certain editions of the game will have a three-day early access. The real ratings will drop around then during the big reveal. For now, 92 looks nice, but don’t count on it.
