DeMarcus Robinson will wear Trey Lance’s old number in 2025
The San Francisco 49ers didn’t make much noise in free agency, but one signing that might be relied on more than others is wide receiver Demarcus Robinson. Brandon Aiyuk might miss time to begin the regular season, and Deebo Samuel’s departure opens the door for plenty of targets to go around.
On Monday, we learned through Robinson’s Instagram that he will wear Trey Lance’s old number of 5. So, if you’re looking to repurpose that jersey, you can still keep it around.
The Niners had kept No. 5 sacred for a long time once Jeff Garcia stopped wearing it in 2003. David Carr wore it for one season in 2010, but we hadn’t seen a member of the Niners wear No. 5 for multiple seasons until Bradley Pinion did in 2015 through 2018.
Since then, Chase McLaughlin, Randy Gregory, and Josh Dobbs have donned the number outside Lance’s brief stint with the 49ers. Now, it’s Robinson’s turn.
