The 3-2 Atlanta Falcons are coming off an impressive Monday Night Football win over the Buffalo Bills at home. Now, Atlanta travels across the country on a short week to take on the 4-2 San Francisco 49ers. Despite both teams boasting winning records, they have a combined point differential of -3.
You generally want to zag off a team that just pulled off the upset. There aren’t many instances of the Falcons winning the following week when they pulled off a win like the one they did a week ago.
The Falcons do have the most dangerous player in the NFL in Bijan Robinson, who leads the NFL with 822 scrimmage yards, despite only playing in five games. Robinson’s 164.4 scrimmage yards per game are the most by a player in NFL history. The 49ers will have their hands full, especially without Fred Warner.
Still, the Falcons have some telling tendencies on offense that make them predictable. Buffalo limited them in the second half. For San Francisco, it feels as simple as not allowing the big play and keeping James Pearce at bay.
Mac Jones gets George Kittle back, who proved in one quarter against the Seahawks how valuable he is to this offense. Kittle back should open things up for the rest of the wide receivers, not to mention Christian McCaffrey on the ground.
We like the Niners to win this one 24-21.
