The 49ers’ Week 1 win over the Seattle Seahawks was a very damaging one in terms of injuries, with George Kittle now set for weeks on the sideline and Brock Purdy a doubt for Week 2.

But San Francisco got some good news on the injury front on Tuesday concerning wide receiver Jauan Jennings.

Jennings was hampered by a shoulder injury against Seattle, which limited him to 50 of the 49ers’ 76 offensive snaps in their 17-13 win.

An initial MRI scan on the injury came back clear, and Jennings now has a chance to feature in the Week 2 clash with the New Orleans Saints after ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that additional tests were also clean. Jennings is considered day-to-day.

That is a huge boost for a 49er offense that will be without tight end Kittle for four games after he was placed on injured reserve.

Regardless of whether it is Purdy (shoulder, toe) or backup Mac Jones at quarterback in the Superdome, the 49ers are in need of as many reliable targets as they can get in the absence of both Kittle and Brandon Aiyuk.

Ricky Pearsall hit the ground running to start what the 49ers hope will be his first full season in the league, going for over 100 yards in the opener. With Jennings healthy and Kendrick Bourne re-joining the attack, the 49ers have a receiving triumvirate well-placed to help them survive Kittle’s spell on the sideline.

Demarcus Robinson’s return from suspension in Week 4 will also be a boost in that regard, however, in the more immediate future, Jennings can likely look forward to an increased role in the passing game as he aims to build on his breakout year of 2024.
