The San Francisco 49ers and Brandon Aiyuk debacle continues to get weirder by the day, as the wide receiver has not held back, going on social media to criticize the team. He eventually deleted those videos, but he came back on Saturday afternoon in a robe and boxer shorts, dancing.
The caption under the post says “Coming to an endzone near [hand point emoji].
It’s uncertain if that’s a sign that the 49ers will be making a decision on Aiyuk soon, or if he’s just trolling.
Aiyuk originally went on social media, calling out the 49ers and explaining why he thinks they’re upset with him. His thoughts were because they signed him to a four-year, $120 million contract.
“You want to know why [the 49ers] are really mad, though?” Aiyuk said in the video. “They mad cause they stupid. They dumb. They mad that they paid me $50 million in eight months. And they voided my guarantees for 2027. And I’m about to be on a new team in 2027. They mad at themselves, for real. They acting like they mad at me, but they stupid a-s mad at themselves.”
After suffering a torn ACL and MCL in his right knee in the 2024-25 season, Aiyuk missed the following season and has skipped mandatory minicamp over the past year. The 49ers voided about $27 million of what was originally guaranteed money from Aiyuk in the 2026-27 season after he failed to meet contractual obligations.
The 49ers are trying to trade Aiyuk, but it seems like teams may be worried about the wide receiver on and off the field. With how he’s been conducting himself on social media, there’s no surprise that teams want to stay away from him.
The only hope they have is that he’s frustrated with the situation he’s in with the 49ers and turns a new leaf in his new endeavor.
