Last year, the Detroit Lions burst out onto the scene, emerging as the best team in the NFC during the regular season, winning 15 games in the process. While they didn’t reach their Super Bowl goals, it became clear that anyone involved in the Lions’ organization was having a lot of fun. Now, more players want a taste of that success.

This time around, a player who did get a chance to experience the Lions’ culture under Dan Campbell wants to return to the team again in 2025.

Specifically, three-time Pro Bowl edge rusher Za’Darius Smith recently said, “We both know where I want to be,” referring to playing in the Motor City.

Smith remains a free agent after ending last season with the Lions. Smith played in eight and ended up starting seven games in Detroit after a midseason trade from Cleveland. Yet, Aidan Hutchinson wasn’t able to suit up with him after being saddled with a broken leg.

Now, if Smith signs, he’ll be able to help take attention away from Hutchinson, ideally improving the entirety of the Lions’ pass-rush. After recording nine sacks last season, it looks like the 32-year-old Smith still has plenty of fuel in the tank, and he wants to burn it in the Motor City.
