Sorsby transferred to Cincinnati in 2024 after leaving Indiana and the 21 year old has been sensational this season for a top 25 Bearcats team. For starters, Sorsby is completing a high rate of his pass attempts, which have also come in variety of NFL caliber throws. Sorsby displays NFL level touch and accuracy on passes, completing a high rate of throws in the intermediate range while also having a ton of zip and power on passes 15+ yards. Sorsby has an NFL caliber frame and is well built which also allows for his success in navigating the pocket and breaking through contact with defenders both in the pocket and out of the pocket. The junior quarterback utilizes his full body to generate high levels of velocity and touch on pass attempts consistently fitting throws through tight windows. Sorsby has a strong arm and can complete throws 50+ yards downfield as well. Sorsby does a good job reading defenses and being able to identify coverages and look off defenders to create windows. He does a good job creating separation and showing the ability to put the ball in front of his receiver while also showing the ability to put the ball in his receivers range during contested catch situations. Sorsby displays NFL caliber pocket awareness and mobility showing the ability to step up into passing lanes and utilzing different arm slots in order to complete passes. In addition, Sorsby has excellent athleticism that allows for the ability to be a dynamic threat on the ground and as a scrambler. He has long strides and a strong build while also showing quick initial quickness and burst along with good vision as a runner. Sorsby can go to an offense that allows for designed runs and should be successful in that approach. Sorsby has consistent fluid mechanics with clean footwork and an advanced knowledge of how to re position his feet and complete the throw after initial movement. He has an ability to drive through the ball which prevents it from trailing away from receivers. Sorsby does a good job protecting the football showing the ability to look off defenders, identify high leverage coverages, and complete throws into windows where he trusts his arm ability (also seen by his 1.9% TWP rate this season).
While showcasing some traits in decision making and processing, Sorsby will need to develop those traits a little more consistently through the NFL level. He shows the ability to look off defenders, but Sorsby can get trapped by coverage shells and bracket coverage at times leading to interceptions or errant throws.
