Steelers Now
The Pittsburgh Steelers sent three scouts to see Arizona State host TCU in a Big 12 showdown on Friday night. The Sun Devils are led by redshirt junior quarterback Sam Leavitt, a potential first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, who the Steelers scouted for a second time this season.
The Steelers previously saw Leavitt face Northern Arizona in a Week 1 laugher. This time around, he went toe to toe with a tough TCU team. The Steelers were among 17 teams with representatives in attendance on Friday night.
Leavitt finished 26 of 38 for 278 yards, two touchdowns and a 147.2 passer rating. He also ran 13 times for 62 yards and another score, but also lost a fumble in the second quarter.
The Sun Devils trailed by a touchdown late in the game, when Leavitt, the No. 89 prospect on the NFL Mock Draft Database Big Board, hit ASU’s top prospect, No. 12 wide receiver Jordyn Tyson for a four-yard score to tie the game with 1:50 to play.
Tyson finished with eight catches for 126 yards and two scores.
TCU got the ball back with a chance to kick a game-winning field goal, but quarterback Josh Hoover, the No. 105 prospect in the draft class, fumbled on a sack on the second play of the drive for the Horned Frogs.
ASU got the ball back in field goal range, but was unable to run the clock all the way down before Jesus Gomez kicked a go-ahead 23-yarder with 1:14 to play.
Gifted one more chance, Hoover threw a game-sealing interception.
