Steelers Now
The Pittsburgh Steelers are scouting a matchup of two of the top quarterbacks in the 2026 NFL Draft class on Sunday, as they have two scouts in the house at Williams-Brice Stadium, where Ty Simpson and the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide are visiting the South Carolina Gamecocks and quarterback LaNorris Sellers.
Sellers is the one quarterback prospect that entered the 2025 college football season as one of the top prospects in the 2026 NFL Draft and has remained there. The 6-foot-3, 240-pound quarterback has thrown for 1,134 yards and five touchdowns compared to two interception in five games. Though he’s had some ups and downs in his junior season, Sellers has never been below No. 7 in the NFL Mock Draft Database consensus big board.
Simpson, on the other hand, is one of the biggest risers, entering the season at No. 608 on the big board before rocketing into the first round, where he’s currently the No. 9 prospect.
A redshirt junior, Simpson had not made a start before this season, and he’s come on strong with 1,931 yards, 18 touchdowns and just one interception in seven games.
This is the second time this season the Steelers have scouted Sellers, and the third time they’ve seen Simpson and the prospect-loaded Crimson Tide.
Each quarterback also has a draft-eligible favorite target with South Carolina WR Nyck Harbor and Alabama WR Germie Bernard both in the top 100 prospects, as well.
