We’re counting down the days until the Panthers open up the 2025 season!

Hello CSR! We got 96 days left until the start of the 2025 NFL season for the Panthers, which means its time to focus on #96; DL Jaden Crumedy!

Crumedy joined the Panthers as the 200th overall pick in the 6th round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Unfortunately, he didn’t make it long in his rookie season as he suffered a high ankle sprain in the preseason opener against the New England Patriots, landing him on injured/reserve once the 53 man rosters were finalized in late August. Crumedy returned to the active roster in November, and ended up playing in five games as part of the defensive line rotation. He logged 13 total tackles, 1 QB hit, and 0.5 a sack in that span.

Going into the 2025 season, Crumedy’s certainly got his work cut out for him to carve a meaningful role in the Panthers defensive line rotation, though its not impossible. With a returning Derrick Brown, and two higher profile defensive line signings in Tershawn Wharton and Bobby Brown, along with returning veteran (and arguably the Panthers best defensive lineman in 2024) A’Shawn Robinson, that’s essentially four slots locked down prior to any injuries. That leaves one, maybe two spots left for the former 6th round pick to fight for. The Panthers also drafted DL Cam Jackson in the 5th round of this past draft, who is likely already a better fit for what this defensive line rotation needed even without having played a snap yet.

I think Crumedy has an outside chance to make the 53 as the 6th DL, if the Panthers choose to move on from Shy Tuttle and save some cap space. But I think he’s most likely a candidate to get stashed on the practice squad, with a high probability of getting called up as the long NFL season wears on. What say you Panthers fans?
