We’re counting down the days until the Panthers open up the 2025 season!
There are half a hundred days left until the first Carolina Panthers game of the 2025 season. In that vein, we will talk about the player currently sporting the number 50 jersey, offensive lineman Robert Hunt.
The Panthers signed Hunt in the 2024 offseason after a disastrous season from their offensive line the year prior. The team threw a lot of money at him to solidify the interior of the offensive line, and it actually worked out. Hunt was a quality starting guard that gave Bryce Young some much needed protection while also clearing running lanes for Chuba Hubbard’s first 1000 yard season. He’ll be expected to do the same again as part of an offensive line that is returning in full.
If Hunt continues to play well for a few more seasons, he’ll have a shot at going down as the best 50 in Panthers history to this point. He only has one real competitor in that regard, linebacker James Anderson. Anderson was an excellent third linebacker back when teams actually used three linebackers in a group that included Thomas Davis and Jon Beason when all were healthy. He was part of what many would argue was the best linebacker trio in the league for a short time. As injuries mounted for that duo, Anderson took over as a starter and acquitted himself well for a few more years before moving on to greener pastures.
